What type of Flooring in my Kitchen?
Murphy Homes means we are flexible to meet your wants and needs! Looking to build a new home in Huntsville, Madison, or Athens, Alabama and want a house to reflect You? Well, that is our specialty.
One of the biggest questions we get asked is, what type of flooring do you recommend for a kitchen? Well, we can't even agree ourselves! Luckily Jeremy and Charlie are here to breakdown the reasons they like the flooring choices they do.
So, check out the video and enjoy Jeremy vs Charlie debating for hardwood vs tile in Your Kitchen!
The Stats!
Hardwood
- Luxurious Look - using hardwood flooring in a dining room, family room, breakfast room, and kitchen gives a luxurious continuous look making your interior spaces look grand!
- Warm and Inviting - there is no denying the warmth and comfort that comes from a wood flooring. Wood is one of mankind's oldest building materials so we are hardwired to find comfort in the unique patterns of a wood grain floor.
- Easier to Clean - Jeremy sums it up in one word - GROUT! Yes, grout can be difficult to clean and show dirt over time but may of our tile aficionados consider this patina to be part of the charm! Either way, for light spills or a quick sweep, hardwood is easier to clean.
- Fewer Repairs - while tile is a more durable surface over the long term, when it does get damaged, replacement is the only solution! For hardwood, light scratches can often be repaired with a simple stain pen. This will keep your floors looking good for a very long time!
Tile
- Room Differentiation - Charlie loves the open floor plans that Murphy Homes offers but he likes a little bit of room differentiation. Tile provides just enough "pop" to give each room its own character.
- Cooking Messes - While tile can be easier to clean for smaller day to day messes, tile can really withstand the creativity (read destruction) that the home chef in your family creates!
- Pets! - One word here - Pets! If you have any indoor pets, a tile flooring gives a great place for a water or food bowl.
- Stained Cabinets - It can be difficult to pair stained cabinets with a hardwood floor. That is one of the reasons why Charlie likes his stained cabinets to contrast with an attractive wood floor.
The Verdict!
As much fun as we have debating this sort of thing, the answer really depends on your tastes and how you live.
