    FAQs

    Q

What is the first step to building a Murphy Home?

    A

The first step is connecting with our Online Sales Counselor. They'll learn more about what you're looking for and introduce you to one of our experienced Sales Professionals, who will help you explore our new home communities in North Alabama, available homesites, and floor plans.

Whether you're interested in new homes in Madison, Athens, Harvest, Meridianville, or New Market, we'll help you find the community and home that best fits your lifestyle.

      Q

How long does it take to build a new construction home?

      A

Most Murphy Homes are completed in approximately six months, including your design appointment, pre-construction planning, and construction. Once your home's foundation is poured, construction typically takes around 120 days until closing.

Our streamlined process allows us to build personalized homes while keeping your timeline as efficient as possible.

        Q

Do I need mortgage pre-approval before reserving a homesite?

        A

While it isn't required, we highly recommend getting pre-approved before reserving a homesite. Knowing your budget early helps simplify the buying process and allows our team to guide you toward the best new construction homes for sale in North Alabama that fit your needs.

          Q

What happens during my Design Center appointment?

          A

One of the most exciting parts of building a Murphy Home is visiting our Design Center.

You'll meet one-on-one with our in-house designer to personalize your home by selecting finishes, colors, fixtures, flooring, cabinetry, countertops, and other design features. Depending on your floor plan, you may also be able to modify layouts, expand living spaces, add bonus rooms, or incorporate additional custom features.

Our goal is to create a home that reflects your family's lifestyle—not just another builder-grade house.

            Q

            Is my initial deposit refundable?

            A

Yes. Through our Murphy Promise, your initial deposit remains refundable until your pre-construction meeting.

We believe buying a new home should feel exciting (not stressful), which is why we provide flexibility while you're making important decisions.

              Q

I still need to sell my current home. Can I still buy?

              A

              Absolutely.

Many of our buyers are selling an existing home before moving into their new one. Depending on your situation, we may be able to accommodate bridge financing, delayed construction starts, or other contingency options.

                Q

Do you offer incentives on new homes?

                A

                Yes!

Murphy Homes frequently offers special incentives on both quick move-in homes and homes built from the ground up. We also proudly offer ongoing incentives for active-duty military members and veterans to help personalize their new home.

Ask our team about our current promotions, available inventory homes, and limited-time community incentives.

                  Q

Can Murphy Homes build on my land?

                  A

Murphy Homes currently builds exclusively within our thoughtfully planned new home communities throughout North Alabama.

If you're interested in building on your own property, we recommend our sister company, Red Door Homes, which specializes in on-your-lot construction throughout North Alabama and Tennessee.

                    Q

How much can I customize my new home?

                    A

One of the things that sets Murphy Homes apart from many production builders is the level of personalization we offer.

After choosing one of our professionally designed floor plans, you can personalize nearly every aspect of your home, from finishes and fixtures to structural changes like expanded porches, additional bathrooms, larger showers, fireplaces, bonus rooms, and more. If we can source the materials and it works within your homesite, we'll do everything we can to make your vision a reality.

                      Q

Will I receive updates during construction?

                      A

                      Absolutely.

Throughout construction, your Sales Professional and Construction Manager will keep you informed every step of the way. You'll receive regular progress updates and photos, along with scheduled walkthroughs, including your pre-drywall orientation and Homeowner Orientation Tour (HOOT).

We believe communication is one of the most important parts of building a new home.

                        Q

Can I visit my home while it's under construction?

                        A

                        Yes.

We encourage scheduled visits throughout the building process. Your Sales Professional will coordinate site visits with your Construction Manager so you can safely see your home come to life while staying informed about its progress.
