Our Process
Step 1: Meet With Our Sales Professionals
Your new home journey begins in one of our North Alabama communities, where you’ll meet with a trained Murphy Homes Sales Professional. This is more than a quick conversation; we take time to truly understand you.
We discuss your family, how you live in your space, your must-haves, and what you hope to gain from moving. From there, we work backward to help you find the right new construction home, floor plan, and location. It’s a personal, thoughtful start that sets the tone for the rest of your experience.
Step 2: Select Your Floor Plan, Homesite and Customizations
Once we identify the ideal floor plan and homesite, the design fun begins. At our Design Center, you can explore millions of combinations, including finishes, upgrades, structural options, and more. Because we’ve pre-priced most selections over decades, you’ll receive exceptional value on everything you choose.
And if there’s something we’ve never built before? That’s where our “Murphy Says Yes!” initiative shines. If we can source it, price it competitively, and build it with quality, we’ll make it happen. This includes modifications like moving walls, adding flex spaces, adding bathrooms, detached garages, and more—always starting from one of our curated floor plans.
Step 3: Pre-Construction Meeting and Early Ordering
Next, you’ll meet with your on-site Construction Manager for your pre-construction meeting. During this appointment, we:
- Review your final floor plan
- Confirm all selections
- Redraw your home
- Begin permitting
- Submit purchase orders for every detail of your home
We order everything, from framing packages to doorstops, before we dig the footings. This proactive approach shortens your timeline and keeps your new home in Madison County or Huntsville on schedule. Throughout construction, your Sales Professional will send weekly updates and photos, so you never feel out of the loop.
Step 4: On-Site Appointments, and Orientation Tours
You’ll be invited to key milestone walkthroughs, including:
- Pre-Drywall Orientation
- HOOT: Homeowner Orientation Tour
During your HOOT, we’ll walk room by room to show you how your new home works, taking you through gas and water shutoffs, mechanical systems, warranties, and recommended maintenance timelines. It’s your chance to get comfortable with every detail of your home before move-in.
Step 5: Closing and Warranty Support
After closing, your home is backed by a 1-year warranty, ensuring we continue supporting you long after move-in. The Murphy Homes Touch means we listen, respond, and provide the level of care you’d expect from a family-owned North Alabama home builder.
